Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers Pennsylvania With porcelain veneers, you can revamp your smile without significant cosmetic dental work.

Porcelain veneers are glass-like, wafer-thin covers that are attached to the front of your teeth. Porcelain has been used in dentistry for many years because no other restorative material is such an excellent match for natural tooth enamel. Porcelain is translucent and can be matched to the color of any tooth. It is stronger than enamel and resists stains. Dental ceramists who fabricate porcelain veneers are both artists and technicians. They create beautiful paper-thin wafers that adhere to teeth, correcting chips and stains. Porcelain veneers can also straighten crooked teeth for family dentistry patients who don’t need orthodontic work.

Patients who receive porcelain veneers appreciate the less-invasive process of enhancing their smile. Newer techniques require no removal of healthy tooth enamel.

We would be happy to show you what veneers can do for your smile.

Elizabethtown Dental Associates in Elizabethtown Cares For Teeth

Family Dentist Elizabethtown Your dentist in Elizabethtown is concerned with your oral health and thus cares about the condition of your mouth and all of your many teeth. At Elizabethtown Dental Associates we recognize that your teeth help you both eat and speak. You use your teeth to tear, scrape, and chew food, as well as to form words with your tongue. Teeth are an important part of your oral health and Elizabethtown Dental Associates wants to help keep your mouth and teeth healthy.

We humans have two sets of teeth in our lifetime. The first set are your ‘primary teeth’, which many folks around Elizabethtown often call ‘baby teeth’. Baby teeth typically start to come in at about 6 months old. An average healthy mouth for a Elizabethtown resident has a total of 20 primary teeth by about age 5.

Your primary teeth will eventually fall out and new teeth known as ‘permanent teeth’ will grow in. Permanent teeth typically begin to come in around age 6 for most Elizabethtown residents, but every person is unique and it could be a little earlier or later. By about age 13 an average healthy mouth should have 28 of the total 32 permanent teeth. The last four permanent teeth may or may not come, but typically come in between the ages of 17 and 21 if they do. Because of the late age that these last teeth come in they are commonly called ‘wisdom teeth’.

Many adults in the city of Elizabethtown have their wisdom teeth pulled out because these teeth can be problematic to your oral health, such as crowding a mouth. Other adults in the Elizabethtown area may not have these teeth pulled out because they are not causing problems. If you are concerned about the state of your wisdom teeth you can visit our local Elizabethtown family dentistry office and we can help you make a decision.

Caring for all of your teeth whether you are young and have 20 primary teeth or are an adult and have 28 to 32 permanent teeth is important for your overall health. Visiting your Elizabethtown dentist regularly, and brushing and flossing daily are great ways to care for your many teeth. Elizabethtown Dental Associates located in Elizabethtown, cares about you oral health and teeth and can be reached by phone at 717-367-1336. In addition to family dentistry, we offer a wide variety of cosmetic dental procedures including teeth whitening and porcelain veneers.

All Tooth Stains Are Not Created Equal

Teeth Whitening Pennsylvania Will an of our locally advertised Pennsylvania teeth whitening options remove the stains from your teeth?

The effectiveness of Zoom whitening in Pennsylvania depends partly on the types of stains.

Extrinsic tooth stains are the easiest to remove. These surface stains have not yet penetrated through the enamel into the dentin. Extrinsic stains are caused by dark-colored foods and beverages like blueberries, carrots, coffee, red wine, and cola. And nicotine is no better for your smile than it is for your lungs.

Unfortunately, even if you avoid these common teeth stainers, your teeth will become discolored over time. Like gray hair, wrinkles, and memory lapses, a dull smile is an inevitable part of aging for Pennsylvania retirees.

Intrinsic tooth stains develop from the inside out. Tooth injury and tetracycline are the usual culprits. Intrinsic stains are more difficult to remove completely, but it is possible to lighten them with professional tooth whitening available at your Pennsylvania cosmetic dental office.

If your teeth are stained, whether from coffee, tetracycline, or excessive fluoride, call Elizabethtown Dental Associates at 717-367-1336. We have treated many Pennsylvania clients with extreme tooth discoloration.

It is never too late or too early to brighten your smile.

Pennsylvania seniors can take years off their appearance by restoring the youthful white smile they once enjoyed. Area teens and young adults with surface stains can prevent them from becoming intrinsic stains with tooth bleaching.

Speaking of the younger set, did you know that people who drink energy drinks are at risk for many dental problems?

Elizabethtown Dental Associates is the cosmetic dental specialist in Pennsylvania. Discover why hundreds of families trust us with their smiles.

An Air-dried Toothbrush Is A Healthy Toothbrush, Elizabethtown

Family Dentistry Elizabethtown

Today in our Elizabethtown dental blog we will highlight some of the simple things you can do with your toothbrush to keep your mouth as clean and healthy as possible.

One of the most important habits Elizabethtown family dentistry patients can form is to always allow their toothbrush to completely air dry between uses. The best way to let the toothbrush air dry is by placing it in a toothbrush holder on the counter with the bristles pointing up. This method of storage is much better than sticking it away in a drawer since it’s unlikely to dry there.

Also, when you travel away from the Elizabethtown area, make sure your toothbrush is dry before you seal it away in a travel container.

A good strategy for Elizabethtown residents to make sure their toothbrush has ample time to dry is to buy two toothbrushes at your local drugstore. Then alternate between the two so each has time to fully dry out between uses.

And Elizabethtown dental patients should remember to replace their toothbrush (or toothbrushes) every 3-4 months, or after they’ve had a cold!
